What Screwdriver Do I Need to Change My Lenses?

Sunglasses are more than just a fashion accessory; they're a shield against the harsh glare of the sun, protecting our eyes and allowing us to see the world more clearly. However, over time, wear and tear can affect the lenses, leading to scratches or damage that may hinder our vision. Which is most likely why you are here at TYTE Eyewear, for a pair of the best replacement sunglass lenses. But wait, how do you change the lenses out if you have a wire frame with screws? Don’t worry – it’s still simple.

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Get Your Tool
Click here for the screwdriver tool that we use here at TYTE. There are a few different kinds, so look at your glasses and match the type of tip to the screws in your frame.

Step 2: Prepare Your Workspace
Find a well-lit and flat surface to work on, preferably a table or countertop. Lay down a clean cloth to protect your sunglasses from scratches and to prevent small screws from rolling away. This will also provide a stable surface for you.

Step 3: Remove the Old Lenses
Hold your sunglasses firmly but gently, ensuring you don't accidentally bend or damage the frames. Locate the screws securing the lenses to the frame. These screws are typically found on the inner side of the frame near the bridge or along the temples.

Then with your screwdriver, loosen the screws 2-3 turns. You want to loosen the screws, but not completely take them out. Once the screws are loose, hold the frames facing away from you, and pop the lenses out, by pressing your thumbs on the inside corner of your old lenses.

Step 4: Clean the Frame
With the old lenses removed, take a moment to clean the frame using a clean microfiber cloth or the TYTE sunglass bag that you received with your order. Remove any dust, dirt, or residue that may have accumulated, ensuring a clean surface for the new lenses.

Step 5: Install the New Lenses
Take your replacement lenses and position them correctly within the frame, aligning them with the screw holes.

Once the lenses are properly aligned, carefully insert the screws into the holes, using your screwdriver to tighten them securely. Take care not to over-tighten the screws, as this could damage the frame or the lenses.

Awesome! Your glasses should look brand new. Make sure to clean them with our TYTE Eyewear oversized microfiber cleaning cloth for optimal shine and clarity.
